Townsend Site Stream Enhancement Project is located in Plumtree, NC in Avery County. This project is part of the Western North Carolina Stream Initiative owned by Resource Institute, Inc. Construction began in September 2014 and was completed in October 2014. It consisted of 1790 LF of stream enhancement and streambank stabilization of the North Toe River. Banks along the river were sloped, matted, and re-vegetated. Structures installed on this project consisted of rock vanes and brush toe for protection of banks. The Townsend Site project consisted of Priority I stream restoration. The Senior Project Manager for this project was Charles Hill and the assistant project manager/foreman was Chris Heiden.
